We are proud to announce that Grand Hotel has just added two new Pickleball courts! All guests are welcome to come relax, compete, and play on the only clay pickleball courts in the state of Michigan!
Pickleball was created in the summer of 1965 on Bainbridge Island – a short ferry ride from Seattle, Washington. A family friendly game, pickleball games take place on a badminton size court with four players. Combining the elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, pickleball is a great way to enjoy a fast paced game that’s easy to learn and fun to play!
The USAPA official Pickleball ambassadors for Mackinac Island, Marge and Rich Lind, are island residents who spend time in Arizona each winter where they first discovered the sport. Upon returning home to Mackinac this spring, they wanted to introduce residents and tourists to the game and spread the contagious pickleball excitement! As one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S., Grand Hotel welcomes all guests to come enjoy two of the 1800+ pickleball courts in the United States.
Cole Heule, Grand Hotel’s Tennis Pro, is available to teach the beginner this exciting sport. Paddles and Pickleballs are available at the tennis pro-shop.
