Do I have to do any paperwork once I am hired?
The HR department will send you a link prior to your start date to complete your new hire paperwork online. The remainder of the new hire paperwork will be done onsite and before you start working. At that time, you will be enrolled in the Time Clock and your uniforms will be issued. You will not be able to start working for us until you have provided these documents and followed through with all HR requirements. There will be no exceptions, so please come prepared. The Human Resources office is open six days a week during the summer season.
If hired, what should I bring?
We suggest you bring clothing for four seasons to be ready for rainy days and colder nights, as well as the required items to accompany your uniform. Please avoid bringing large electronics, stereo systems, any cooking or heating equipment, and multi-outlet plugs. You may bring a small TV with you. Here are some additional items that you may want to bring:
I-9 Documentation: Bring originals, no copies, or faxes, of your I-9 documents. Visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents for a list of acceptable documents.
Are there places on the island to buy groceries and other supplies?
Mackinac Island has a variety of small retail stores. There is a grocery store, Doud’s Market, that is open year-round. Other grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and large stores like Walmart are located off island and require a car, shuttle or bus to get to.

I’m interested in working for Grand Hotel year-round. Do you only post seasonal positions?
Most of the positions we are looking to fill are for the summer season. We work with other seasonal Davidson Properties who offer housing in Utah, Colorado, and Florida to give our team an opportunity for year-round employment if interested. We do have several year-round positions available at Grand Hotel in sales & events, security, housing, engineering, and food & beverage.
What if I can’t find the job I want online?
If the job you’re looking for is not posted online, you can send your resume to [email protected] or check for other open positions you may be interested in.
When should I apply for a job?
We start posting jobs for the upcoming season in early December for a start date in April. We can work with a later start date for some seasonal positions, with a start date as late as mid May.
