The well-being of our guests and team members is our highest priority.

We’re ready to welcome you back and would like to share some of the steps we’ve taken to ensure the well-being of our guests and team members.

Cleaning and sanitation

Our team has implemented enhanced sanitization protocols across the hotel, developed with guidance provided by local health authorities, the CDC, AHLA Safe Stay guidelines and other governmental agencies. The frequency of cleaning and disinfecting the hotel, with additional focus on high-touch surfaces such as the front desk, elevators, door handles, and public restrooms, has been increased to ensure a clean and safe environment for our guests and team members. This elevated approach extends to the cleaning and sanitation processes within our guest rooms, restaurants, and team member service areas. Please note that due to the current situation once a guest checks in hotel staff will not be entering the guest room, therefore housekeeping services will not occur during your stay. 

Hand hygiene, face coverings and gloves

Proper and frequent handwashing remains one of the most important steps in preventing the spread of germs. Our team members are required to properly wash their hands hourly and immediately after doing such things as sneezing, touching their face, cleaning, entering, or exiting guest areas and before and after a shift. We have made hand sanitizer readily available throughout the hotel to assist with hand sanitation when a sink is not readily available. Each of our team members are required to wear masks; due to governmental requirements, guests are also required to wear masks when in public spaces. Gloves will be worn by restaurant team members when preparing food or drinks; other team members throughout the hotel may also be required to wear gloves depending on duties and recommendations made by the CDC. 

Temperature and well-being checks

All on-property hotel staff are undergoing COVID-19 training and will be screened daily with a temperature check and short questionnaire. Appropriate PPE will be worn depending on where the employee works. Employees and guests will be advised to practice social distancing.

Physical distancing

Guests are advised to practice physical distancing and maintain a space of six feet apart from others, our team members will be doing the same with reception and service areas reconfigured to assure a safe space between team members.

The tables in the Main Dining Room, private dining areas, Woods Restaurant, The Gate House, The Jockey Club at the Grand Stand, Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor and the Fort Mackinac Tea Room will be reconfigured to assure a safe space between guests and team members. Seating capacity is limited to 50% to allow for proper social distancing mandated by the State of Michigan. Mandatory face masks will be required for bartenders and servers. Occupancy within elevators is limited to four people at a time.

Guest rooms

We have enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols for our guest rooms to include the use of cleaning products and standards which meet recommended guidelines and are approved for use against viruses, bacteria and other airborne and bloodborne pathogens and with particular attention to high-touch items and surfaces within the room. Due to the current situation please know that once a guest checks in hotel staff will not be entering the guest room, therefore housekeeping services will not occur during your stay. In-room dining – no contact delivery

To further ensure the health and safety of our guests and team members, in-room dining will be made available using no contact delivery methods.
