A Taste of Grand

At Grand Hotel, dining is more than a meal. It is part of the rhythm of a Mackinac Island day, from leisurely breakfasts and an abundant Grand Luncheon Experience to cocktails overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, afternoon tea accompanied by live music, and elegant evenings in The Parlor.

Whether you are gathering around the table with family, lingering over a cocktail, or discovering something new behind the scenes in the Grand Hotel kitchen, every culinary experience is designed to be savored.

A Grand Way to Start Your Day

Start your morning with a breakfast as leisurely and abundant as the day ahead. Grand Hotel’s breakfast features a sumptuous selection of made-to-order favorites, breakfast classics, fresh pastries, seasonal fruits, smoothies, oatmeal, breakfast meats, fresh juices, coffee, and Steven Smith tea.

For a taste of Michigan, enjoy breakfast favorites with authentic Michigan maple syrup, or savor seasonal flavors inspired by local ingredients.

And because mornings at Grand Hotel are meant to be enjoyed slowly, why not make breakfast a little more celebratory? Sip a Grand Mimosa, made with sparkling wine and orange juice, start the day with a Grand Mary, or raise a glass of Grand Private Label sparkling wine.

Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM daily in the Main Dining Room during the season.

The Grand Luncheon Experience

A midday tradition worthy of its name, the legendary Grand Luncheon Experience brings an abundant selection of fresh salads, composed salads, and seafood, including oysters, mussels and assorted smoked fish, domestic and specialty cheeses, fresh fruits, hot selections and a carvery station. And no Grand Luncheon Experience is complete without its lavish dessert display.

Coffee, tea and lemonade are included, and soft drinks, wine, beer and a full bar are available for additional purchase. The Grand Luncheon Experience is served 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM daily in the Main Dining Room during the season.

The Grand Luncheon Experience is available to guests and visitors and tickets can be purchased the day of your visit at the Admission Desk, located at the East entrance of the hotel. Groups fewer than 20 do not need a reservation, and groups of more than 20 can email [email protected] for reservations.

A Timeless Dinner Tradition

Make dinner the centerpiece of your evening in the Main Dining Room, where a grand setting meets three rotating menus of thoughtfully prepared dishes. Each evening begins with an appetizer, followed by soup, salad, entrée, and dessert for a leisurely multi-course experience meant to be savored from beginning to end.

Explore a variety of seasonal flavors throughout the meal, with selections spanning land, sea, and garden. Vegetarian offerings are also featured, alongside a selection of decadent desserts to finish the evening.

Pair dinner with a glass of wine, a Michigan craft beer, or a signature Grand cocktail. With three rotating menus throughout the season, every evening offers something new to discover.

Dinner in the Main Dining Room is served from 6:30 PM to 8:45 PM daily during the season.

Proper attire is required throughout Grand Hotel after 6:30 PM.

Between Meals, Make Time to Linger

Some of the most memorable moments at Grand Hotel happen between meals. As the day unfolds, there is always an invitation to slow down, gather with those around you, and savor the simple pleasures of time well spent.

Spend the afternoon in The Parlor with the timeless ritual of Afternoon Tea, accompanied by live classical music. Step outside to the Front Porch for a cocktail and a snack from Geranium Bar, and settle into a rocking chair as lake breezes roll across the Straits of Mackinac. Then, as evening arrives, return to The Parlor to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the elegant atmosphere of Grand Hotel after dinner.

From afternoon tea to sunset cocktails, and evening conversation, these are the moments that turn a day at Grand Hotel into a tradition worth returning to.

Cocktails, Snacks, and the World’s Longest Porch

Settle into a rocking chair on the World’s Longest Front Porch with a cocktail and a snack from Geranium Bar, located just steps from the Front Porch. Order a refreshing cocktail, a cold Big Porch Ale, a crisp glass of Champagne, or a bite to enjoy as you take in the view.

With 660 feet of space to enjoy sweeping views of the Straits of Mackinac, and the gentle rhythm of horses passing by, the Front Porch is made for lingering. Pick up your favorites at Geranium Bar, find a rocking chair, and let the afternoon unfold.

Afternoon Tea in The Parlor

Enjoy a Grand Hotel timeless tradition. Afternoon Tea has been a cherished Grand Hotel tradition since 1887. Today, this timeless ritual continues in The Parlor with premium teas from our tea partner, Steven Smith Teamaker, thoughtfully paired with an assortment of sweet and savory creations from our culinary team. Live classical music, including performances by our resident harpist, adds to the experience as guests gather in one of Grand Hotel’s most iconic spaces.

Amelia’s Tea Experience

Amelia Musser, daughter of longtime Grand Hotel president Edward C. Musser, helped shape the Afternoon Tea tradition guests know today. Inspired by traditional English customs, she made tea service a cherished part of Grand Hotel life, a legacy her daughter, Mimi, continued.

Today, Amelia’s Tea Experience honors that family tradition with an elevated afternoon in The Parlor. Enjoy brewed Steven Smith tea, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne, and Lustau San Emilio Pedro Ximénez Dry Sherry alongside thoughtfully crafted sweet and savory selections, all accompanied by live classical music.

Evenings In The Parlor

After dinner, The Parlor offers a welcoming place to linger with family and friends. Settle into the timeless elegance of the hotel’s heart, share stories, and enjoy the easy pace of an evening at Grand Hotel.

When you are ready to keep the evening going, join us in the Terrace Room for dancing, fun and laughter.

Proper attire is required throughout Grand Hotel after 6:30 PM.
