With over 70 miles of natural and paved trails, Mackinac Island is a biker’s paradise. Explore the island at your own speed or bike the island’s eight-mile perimeter on picturesque (and paved) Lake Shore Boulevard. Bicycles can be rented at Grand Hotel’s Pool House. Rental fees are $9.00/hour, $32.00 half-day and $55.00 full day. Three-speed, five-speed, seven-speed cruiser bikes and burley carts are available. Children’s-sized bicycles are $5.00 per hour. Special Grand Hotel box luncheons are available and can be enjoyed at any of the picnic spots throughout the island. Call (906) 847-3331 for more information.
Biking around the island is relatively flat, and takes generally 1-1½ hours via Lake Shore Boulevard (M-185), the only interstate in the nation that does not allow personal motor vehicles. Many highlights along the way include Arch Rock, Silver Birches, British Landing, Brown’s Brook, Devil’s Kitchen and great views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge. Refreshments and restrooms are available at the halfway point. Use the Mackinac roads and trails map to explore the island. Or visit the Concierge Desk for ideas and customize the map to your personal points of interest.
We also welcome you to bring your own bicycles to Mackinac Island. Guest parking is located across the street from the hotel, behind the Grand Hotel Pro Shop.
