We are proud to announce the performances of Delfeayo and his father Ellis Marsalis, Jr. who will perform during this year’s Labor Day Jazz Festival, Saturday in the Tea Garden, and during the Sunday morning Gospel set. Delfeayo is the brother of Wynton and Branford Marsalis who have both performed at past Grand Hotel Labor Day Jazz Festivals.
Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top jazz trombonists, composers, and producers today. The San Franciso Examiner recently said “Delfeayo is One of the most imaginative and musical trombonists of his generation.” Available this March, will be the first collaborative album with his father, Ellis, Jr. Recently, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford, Wynton, and Jason) earned the nation’s highest jazz honor – a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award.
On Friday evening French Vocalist, Cyrille Aimee’ will perform. Cyrille’s first label release “It’s a good day” will be out this Spring, featuring her music vision of bass, drums, and three guitars: gypsy, jazz, and Brazilian. She is a well known Jazz singer who has won many vocal awards. Her hybrid of influences is fresh and enlivening.
We will also welcome back popular Michigan Clarinetist Dave Bennett. Dave has performed in over 35 U.S. States and Canada. He just made his first Carnegie Hall debut this past November.
